My grandparents
Deeply in love

Eloped
As teenagers
And then went back home
Each to live normally
With their own families.
Eventually,
A marriage certificate
Arrived in the mail.
Grandma's sister
Simply stated,
Mom, I think Jenni
Is married.
A more traditional
Ceremony followed,
And that's the beginning
As I know it.

Keith's grandparents did the same thing. Snuck out at night, got married, went to their respective parents' homes for the next week. I never figured out why, but it makes a great story.
