600. Older Man's Appeal

You're an old man
And I want you
As much
As a woman
Filled with desire
Wants any young stud
It's your command
Of the world
Around you
That puts me
In the palm
Of your hand

I'm curious. I see many poems in the Admiring Men section reflecting your sense of men as objects of desire. In your view, do you ever see men as simply friend potential?

Even in the Tango section, there's the idea that the partner needs to be lust-worthy, or else the experience is just icky. I guess a platonic relationship doesn't work here for you, either.

So I'm wondering -- do you think it's possible or even worthwhile to have a platonic friendship with a man.

I do have platonic relationships with men friends. My platonic male friends are not featured in this blog mostly because this blog is primarily about dating and about being single in San Francisco. :-) My male friends are very important to me and have been all my life.

Do they know they are on the friend list, or have they been given the impression they're on some other list?

In my experience ( or opinion, whichever is easier for you to embrace), you may at least want to reflect on the lust-worthy/icky observation. I believe the God of Tango withholds tango nirvana from those who steel their heart from all but the lust-worthy.

By the way, being single does allow for friends, doesn't it? So please forgive in advance all those who read this post and think:

Some of my best friends are; men, black, gay, poor, less than beautiful, average.
