You saved my life,
He said blearily.
I sang silly songs
To him
For the last 15 minutes
Of a sleepy drive
15 miles too long.
I knew he wouldn't
Agree
To pull off the road
To a safe parking lot
For a life-preserving nap
To recover his energy.
So I sang to him
Cross-country
On a long distance call
Till he parked safely
And turned the car off
In his parking spot
At home.
