Jaded people have lost their joy in life, and they freely disclose that in every situation they are in. Jaded people are wet blankets, downers, unhappy, and cynical. Who wants a jaded person around? They may look aloof and sophisticated, experienced and worldly wise, but their tiresome attitude is ultimately just grating. Worse, their misery is contagious.
Maybe the idea here is that cynicism protects a person's heart. I guess it would, but it would also cast a pall over every other potentially beautiful thing in her life.
